Frequently Asked Questions

Q : What is an escape room?
It is a room that 2 to 10 people will be locked in for a predetermined amount of time. While in the room they must gather clues to solve puzzles so they can escape the room. Some of our rooms are more of an adventure room, so the end goal may be different.
Typically the games last up to 60 minutes with a short introduction at the start and brief wrap up at the end. We ask that you show up 15 minutes early for rules and a short story.
We specialize in set design, themed environments, theatrics, story telling, lighting/sound effects, electronic wizardry, and use very few padlocks. Our approach is very different to other escape games since we try to create the most immersive game possible.

Everyone is welcome at Hour To Midnight, but online reservations are required as each room is assigned a dedicated, experienced game master. Reservations are required at least three hours prior to your visit to ensure we have dedicated staff available. Unfortunately, our business model, which makes us the best escape room company in Oregon, isn’t conducive to walk-ins.

While we do actually lock some of the rooms, all rooms have an emergency exit button which allows you to leave at any time. If you leave the room you may not be allowed to re-enter depending on team response and show timing.
Yes. However, We suggest a cut off age for each room, but it’s up to the parents to decide if the child is mature enough to play. See each game’s page for information about that game’s suggested age limit.
If they are under the age of 18, no. You will have to have at least one paying adult in the room.
Since credit card processing fees add up we offer gift cards instead of refunds. Please be aware that our game is a live event, so once the booking is confirmed there is a $30 rescheduling fee if changes are made within 48 hours of your booking time. No shows forfeit funds.
You are in luck! We have made all our rooms private for the foreseeable future. You will have to purchase all the tickets for the players at the time of booking, but if you wish to add players, reach out to us and we can handle it.
Yes, you can always play with less players, but we have a minimum purchase amount for the room of 3 players. As for more players, while we do allow you to go over the room limit, it will dilute the puzzles and crowd the room. There are some rooms that have physical limits on player maximum, so ask before you bring any extra players along beyond the room maximum.
We cannot hold tickets until they are paid for, sorry. If you would like to attend the game on a certain date, please purchase the tickets in advance.

No, escape rooms are inherently group events and as such our pricing is lower than the average/quality. So in essence you are paying less for larger groups.

Our building has a ADA Parking spot capable for Van side door usage. Our entry is flat with the parking lot. Our lobby, bathrooms, and main areas have no stairs and meet all ADA standards. See room descriptions for each room’s limitations.
